Avinor handled nearly five million passengers at its airports in August 2026, with stronger international demand offsetting weaker domestic travel and leaving total traffic only slightly below the same month a year earlier. The Norwegian airport operator also recorded a 12% increase in total traffic from August to September, while international routes rose 14% month on month.
The figures underline the different trends across Norway’s airport system, where international travel is helping to support overall volumes even as domestic demand loses momentum. Avinor operates most public airports in Norway, making its monthly traffic data a key gauge of aviation demand in the country.
The latest numbers point to continued resilience on international routes, which have carried much of the growth in recent months. Domestic traffic remains softer, but the combined total has stayed close to last year’s level, limiting the overall impact on passenger throughput across the network.
