Indra has unveiled DRIZZLE at UNVEX 2026, presenting a new family of autonomous interceptor effectors designed to counter mass drone attacks and protect critical infrastructure, convoys and deployed units. The lightweight system can exceed 400 km/h, reaches about 80 km on its own and extends to roughly 130 km when launched with a mothership drone.
DRIZZLE is intended as a low-cost, disposable and mass-producible response to inexpensive drone threats. Indra is positioning it for use as a hard-kill effector within existing counter-drone systems or as an onboard self-protection option for land vehicles and helicopters. The concept centres on a seeker and guidance chain that combines electro-optical and infrared sensors with real-time processing to identify threats and lock on with precision.
The mothership-drone architecture extends the system’s range by carrying multiple smaller interceptors through the first part of the mission before releasing them near the target area for terminal engagement. Indra is also considering adding radar in later phases, but pricing and any procurement or delivery plans have not been disclosed.
