Indra unveiled SQUALL, a new low-cost cruise missile, at the UNVEX drone and defence exhibition in San Javier, Murcia, on 16 September. Designed for deep-strike missions, the system is positioned to hit strategic targets at lower cost than conventional cruise missiles, while also supporting massed salvos intended to overwhelm air defences.
The missile expands Indra’s portfolio beyond drones and counter-drone systems and is intended for integration with both land and naval launch platforms. Reported characteristics include a range of more than 300 kilometres, low-altitude flight to reduce radar exposure and navigation features designed to resist jamming and spoofing.
SQUALL is aimed at command-and-control nodes, air-defence assets and other high-value military infrastructure, areas that remain central to European long-range strike planning. Indra has not disclosed a price, full technical specification, propulsion details, warhead mass or development timeline.
