Icelandair and Aviationtag have transformed the retired Hekla Aurora Boeing 757-200 into limited-edition collectible keychains made from salvaged fuselage skin. The material was recovered from the aircraft in Lleida, Spain, and processed at Aviationtag’s workshop in Cologne, turning one of Icelandair’s best-known Northern Lights-livery jets into a small-run memorabilia product.
Hekla Aurora, registered TF-FIU, was retired in October 2025 after a farewell sightseeing flight around Iceland. The aircraft debuted in 2014 with a distinctive Northern Lights-themed paint scheme and became a familiar part of Icelandair’s brand identity. By reusing the fuselage skin rather than scrapping the jet without trace, the partners have extended the life of a highly recognisable livery for collectors and aviation enthusiasts.
Aviationtag specialises in converting retired aircraft material into tagged collectibles, and the Hekla Aurora edition is part of that established aftermarket. Demand for the pieces has been strong, with some reports indicating initial stock sold out quickly and production continuing in waves to replenish availability.
