International Consolidated Airlines Group has completed a €500 million share buyback, bringing total repurchases under its planned €1.5 billion capital-return programme to €1 billion. The London- and Madrid-based parent of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vueling finished the latest tranche after its final purchase on 10 September, with the shares to be held in treasury before cancellation.
The completed programme covered 97,747,488 ordinary shares, equal to about 2.12% of issued share capital. It began on 15 May and forms part of a broader excess-cash return plan first outlined in February 2026. IAG has already completed an earlier €500 million buyback, leaving €500 million still to be returned under the programme.
The treasury holding will reduce share capital once the repurchased stock is cancelled, in line with approvals secured at the company’s annual general meeting. The buyback sequence also underlines the group’s continued emphasis on shareholder returns after a period of stronger cash generation.
