Honeywell Aerospace plans to invest $500 million in a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at its existing Tempe, Arizona, campus, adding capacity for commercial aviation and defence programmes. The site, near the company’s global headquarters, is scheduled to open in late 2028. It will bring complex machining in-house, reducing reliance on constrained suppliers, and use digital production systems, modular robotics and automated inspection.
The expansion is intended to support existing customer programmes, $15 billion in new Control Systems programme wins and next-generation products, including Assure advanced actuation systems and Attune vapour-cycle cooling subsystems. Additional capacity will also support priority production of defence technologies covered by a supplier framework agreement with the US Department of War signed in March.
Honeywell Aerospace expects the facility to employ about 600 people over time, while construction is forecast to support more than 1,000 local jobs. The company linked the investment to demand growth in commercial aviation and defence, as well as its recent separation into an independent publicly traded company. The opening date and employment figures remain projected.
