FlyErbil secures Iraqi AOC to operate under its own name

FlyErbil has received an Air Operator Certificate from the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, allowing the Erbil-based airline to operate flights under its own regulatory authority rather than using another carrier’s licence. Issued on 20 October, the certificate was discussed by the airline’s management at an event in Erbil on 1 November. The timing and schedules for services operated under the new certificate have not been confirmed.

FlyErbil previously arranged flights operated under other carriers’ licences, including that of UR Airlines. The AOC gives it the regulatory basis to develop its own operations, but does not establish that any planned route has begun.

Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw said the airline would move into domestic operations, including flights to Baghdad. FlyErbil has also outlined ambitions to connect Erbil with other Iraqi cities and international destinations; specific launch dates and schedules were not reported. The airline was established in 2015 and began commercial operations in 2018.
