Hamburg Airport handled about 1.22 million passengers during the 2026 autumn holidays in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. The busiest week so far this year was 12–18 October, when around 373,000 passengers travelled through the airport, 1.1% more than in the comparable week of 2025. Friday, 16 October, was the year’s busiest day, with 57,140 arriving and departing passengers.
The figures cover the holiday period across the two northern German states. Airport operations ran smoothly despite the higher demand, with travellers making use of expanded check-in and baggage-drop services.
From 5 November, Wizz Air and Turkish Airlines passengers will also be able to use baggage-drop machines at Hamburg. The addition will bring the number of airlines offering the service at the airport to 14. Wizz Air will use standard machines in Terminal 1, row 3, while Turkish Airlines will be the first airline to use the new hybrid counters.
Hamburg Airport handled about 14.8 million passengers in 2025 and serves around 120 direct destinations, with approximately 55 airlines.
