German Air Force to train with four Eurofighters at Nuremberg Airport

The German Air Force will train with four Eurofighters at Nuremberg Airport from 5 to 9 October, using the civilian field for a dispersed operations exercise involving Tactical Air Wing 74. The drill will focus on operating fighter jets away from military bases and on coordinating procedures with the airport operator while keeping normal passenger traffic as unaffected as possible.

The exercise, titled Dispersed Operations 2026 Nürnberg, is designed to test how military aircraft and support teams can work from civilian infrastructure during a defence scenario. Alongside take-offs and landings, the Luftwaffe will practice protection measures for the deployed force and procedures with airport partners. The training is part of a wider effort to improve the service’s ability to disperse and sustain air assets outside its home airfields. One daily flying rotation is planned during the week.
