A new AASHTO-backed report values U.S. general aviation at $339.2 billion in annual output and 1,330,200 jobs, underscoring the sector’s broad economic reach across business, community and cargo flying. The fourth edition of the state and local economies study was jointly prepared by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the Alliance for Aviation Across America and the National Association of State Aviation Officials.
The report also places general aviation’s labor income at $107.5 billion and its contribution to U.S. GDP at $178.1 billion. It highlights the role of more than 4,400 public-use airports accessible to general aviation, compared with 549 airports served by scheduled airlines.
The figures are presented as part of a national update on the sector’s economic footprint, building on earlier studies that quantify direct, indirect, induced and enabled impacts. The latest edition was made available as a free digital publication and is intended for use in policy and industry advocacy.
