MTU Maintenance has signed a three-year agreement with Garuda Indonesia to maintain the GE90-115B engines powering the airline’s fleet of eight Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Engine maintenance, repair and overhaul work will be carried out at MTU’s Hannover facility in Germany, while its Singapore office will provide leasing and asset-management support when required.
The agreement is intended to improve engine availability, operational efficiency and fleet reliability across Garuda’s long-haul operation. Garuda Maintenance Director Mukhtaris Aris described safety, operational readiness and support for the airline’s long-haul network as priorities for the arrangement.
MTU has supported the GE90-110B and -115B since adding the engine family to its MRO portfolio in 2010. The type is a core part of the company’s widebody-engine activity in Hannover, where it provides maintenance services for engines installed on Boeing 777 aircraft.
The parties have not disclosed the contract’s financial value, the number of engines covered, the shop-visit schedule or any performance guarantees. The agreement also does not specify when maintenance activity will begin or whether it applies to the engines of all eight aircraft.
