Gama Aviation has launched a judicial review in Guernsey over the award of the Channel Islands air ambulance contract to 247 Aviation, challenging a procurement decision by the States of Guernsey and Jersey. The dispute centres on the lifesaving service for the Channel Islands, with Gama seeking to overturn a tender outcome that will transfer the contract to the new operator in December.
The legal action was filed in the Royal Court in Guernsey and alleges breaches of procurement rules on transparency and equal treatment. Gama’s claims include a late change to aircraft requirements from Jersey and a lack of transparency and rationality in the scoring of bids.
Gama has held the air ambulance contract since August 2020 and will continue to operate the service until 247 Aviation takes over. The company described the case as the first judicial review of a procurement decision in its 43-year history and wants the competition rerun.
