Frontier Airlines will launch nonstop service between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and New York LaGuardia on 20 November, adding a key business-and-leisure link to a Detroit network that is expanding after Spirit Airlines ended operations earlier this year. The route will run daily during peak holiday travel periods and three times a week at other times, with introductory fares from $69.
The new LaGuardia flight lifts Frontier’s Detroit destinations to 15 nonstop points, 11 of them former Spirit routes. The carrier is also increasing frequencies from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando and Miami as it builds capacity in markets left open by Spirit’s collapse. Frontier projects 41% more total available seats for sale from Detroit in March 2027 than in March 2026, underscoring the airport’s growing role in its network.
