Fraport’s August traffic figures showed mixed performance at Frankfurt Airport, where passenger numbers were broadly unchanged year on year at about 6.3 million, while cargo volumes rose 2.9% to 179,400 metric tonnes. The airport handled 40,968 takeoffs and landings during the month, and total maximum take-off weight fell 1.6% to about 2.6 million tonnes.
August was Frankfurt’s busiest month so far in 2026, with the two highest passenger days of the year both falling within the month and each exceeding 220,000 travellers. Across Fraport’s actively managed airports, passenger traffic increased 2.1% to about 24.1 million. The company’s network figures point to stronger summer demand outside Frankfurt, even as the hub’s passenger trend remained flat.
