France awards Airbus 25-year deal to secure military networks

Airbus has won a 25-year PARACOM cybersecurity contract from France’s Directorate General for Armament to supply secure gateways for networks used by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans’ Affairs. The work, awarded through Airbus Cybersecurity SAS, covers the design, development, production and long-term maintenance of systems intended to filter exchanges between networks handling different levels of classified information.

The gateways will be deployed across ministry sites and operational theatres, with use cases spanning data centres, command posts, ships, submarines, aircraft, helicopters, drones, armoured vehicles and other land vehicles. They are approved for exchanges ranging from secret to unclassified data. Airbus has supplied similar gateway solutions to French land forces since 2013, extending its role in military network protection under a competitive procurement process.

Neither Airbus nor the DGA disclosed the contract value, the number of gateways involved or a delivery timetable.
