flydubai will begin dedicated freighter operations on 1 October with three Boeing 737-800 freighters operating under a wet-lease agreement with SolitAir and based at Dubai World Central. The launch gives the Dubai carrier its first main-deck cargo capability, adding 23,000 kg of payload per flight as it prepares for the fourth-quarter peak season.
The aircraft will support scheduled and charter cargo services across flydubai’s network of more than 125 destinations, carrying goods including pharmaceuticals, perishables, live animals, dangerous goods, aerospace components and express shipments. The move extends the airline’s cargo business beyond the belly-hold capacity of its 98 Boeing 737 passenger aircraft.
flydubai plans to use the freighters as an initial phase in a wider cargo expansion and may consider passenger-to-freighter conversions from 2029. No specific freighter routes were named in the initial announcement, with further network details due later.
