Indian regional airline FLY91 has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 turboprops in a deal worth about $1 billion at list prices, expanding its partnership with the Franco-Italian manufacturer and reinforcing its focus on smaller Indian cities and underserved regional routes.
The order, announced in New Delhi on Thursday, is one of the largest single commitments ever for ATR and the biggest by a regional airline. Deliveries are due to begin in the second half of 2027 and run until 2032 or early 2033. FLY91 currently operates six ATR 72-600s and expects to lease additional aircraft before the new jets arrive, lifting its fleet to around 60 aircraft once the order is fully delivered.
Financing for the purchase has not yet been finalised, and FLY91 is funding upfront payments from its own resources while speaking with lessors and financiers. The airline has secured an undisclosed discount from the list-price value, so the transaction will come in below the headline figure.
