Family offices report rising business jet use

Family offices are relying more heavily on private aircraft as their international operations expand, with 96% of executives surveyed by Airbus Corporate Jets reporting increased use over the two years before the May 2025 fieldwork. Private aircraft accounted for 70% of respondents’ business-aviation travel. The findings cover 73 executives at offices managing a combined $303 billion in assets and describe respondents’ experience, not market-wide traffic growth.

Nearly 70% of the offices had opened operations in other jurisdictions during the previous five years. Executives cited family members living abroad, diversified investments and geopolitical risk among the factors behind that expansion. The survey was conducted by Pureprofile and commissioned by ACJ, Airbus’s business-jet division.

Respondents also anticipated further increases in access and aircraft use. Some 92% said their offices now allow more staff to travel by private aircraft, and 97% expected that access to grow over the following three years. The ability to work during flights, particularly on confidential matters, ranked as the leading benefit.

Expectations varied by aircraft category: 43% forecast a 50% to 75% rise in large-jet use, 55% projected a comparable increase for medium jets, and 32% for light jets. These are survey expectations rather than measured demand forecasts; the research reflects a small group of existing business-aviation users.
