The Federal Aviation Administration has released $1.1 billion in Airport Improvement Program grants for 280 projects at more than 223 airports across 46 states and three territories. The sixth major funding wave of fiscal 2026 will support runway, taxiway, apron, terminal, baggage system and access-road work, alongside other safety-related upgrades at airports nationwide.
The package includes $519.8 million in entitlement grants and $590.4 million in discretionary grants. It also allocates $10.9 million for vehicle movement area transponders on 3,000 airport vehicles at 61 airports, $43 million for noise mitigation at 12 airports, $30.7 million for runway reconstruction at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, $18.9 million for a terminal expansion at Shreveport Regional Airport, $11.5 million for a new contract tower at Mankato Regional Airport and $2 million for terminal work at McAllen International Airport.
The funding draws on fiscal 2026 AIP money made available by Congress, and no further grants are expected this year.
