Eurowings has opened a new crew training centre near Düsseldorf Airport with Lufthansa Aviation Training, giving the airline a dedicated base for recurrent safety and service instruction close to its largest operation. The 2,000-square-metre facility is designed to handle up to 150 trainees a day and supports cabin crew and cockpit staff training on Airbus A320 procedures and emergency drills.
The centre includes a cabin mock-up for evacuation exercises, a door trainer, an evacuation slide tower and an outdoor firefighting area. Training that had previously been carried out in Berlin and Essen will now be concentrated in Düsseldorf, reducing travel time for crews and placing more of the programme near the airline’s main base. Lufthansa Aviation Training will operate the site for Eurowings.
From 2027, a virtual-reality area is planned to expand the training offer with additional scenario-based exercises.
