A Eurowings aircraft carrying 144 passengers returned to Düsseldorf shortly after take-off on Tuesday after a smoke indication in the cabin. The flight, bound for Brindisi in southern Italy, made a precautionary safety landing at its departure airport, briefly disrupting runway operations.
Passengers left the aircraft via stairs after the landing, and no injuries were reported at that stage. Düsseldorf fire services later sent the aircraft for technical inspection. Eurowings described the crew’s decision as a precautionary measure and said passenger safety was not compromised.
During the incident, traffic at Düsseldorf was handled via the north runway while the aircraft remained on the south runway. The return came soon after departure, underlining standard safety procedures when smoke is suspected onboard.
