ENAIRE sets August flight record as Spanish traffic rises 5%

ENAIRE handled 255,084 coordinated flights in August, up 5% from a year earlier and the highest August total on record. The Spanish air navigation manager also logged a peak day on 1 August, when it managed 8,548 flights in Spanish airspace.

Growth was broad-based across traffic types. International flights rose 5.7% to 154,487, domestic flights increased 4.2% to 44,074 and overflights climbed 3.6% to 56,523. Across the five control centres, Barcelona handled 133,222 flights, Madrid 129,223, Palma 55,153, Sevilla 56,104 and Canarias 37,104, all higher than a year earlier.

Between January and August, ENAIRE managed about 1.7 million flights, a 4.3% increase year on year. The figures point to continued summer demand in Spanish airspace, with traffic growth outpacing the broader European average over the same period.
