easyJet expands reusable crew meal trays across UK and Europe

easyJet is rolling out reusable crew meal trays across its UK and European fleet, replacing single-use cardboard boxes used for onboard crew meals. The move, developed with Ecoffee Cup, follows earlier trials in the airline’s Swiss fleet and at its Marrakech base and is part of a wider effort to cut waste in daily operations.

easyJet expects the trays to displace about 1.5 million cardboard crew meal boxes a year, reducing disposable material used onboard without altering the airline’s core low-cost product. The trays are made from certified food-safe plastic and are intended for use on all in-flight crew meals.

The expansion adds to easyJet’s existing reusable onboard measures, including cups and cutlery introduced for crew meals in 2024. For low-cost carriers, the change shows how incremental material substitutions can deliver visible sustainability gains across large networks with limited operational disruption.
