Duffy announces $84.4 million in airport grants for Texas, North Carolina and Wyoming

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy has announced $84.4 million in Airport Improvement Program grants for airports in Texas, North Carolina and Wyoming, with funding going to San Antonio International, Abilene Regional, Jackson Hole and Wilmington International airports. The awards will support airfield drainage reconstruction and erosion control in San Antonio, terminal expansion in Abilene, taxiway rehabilitation at Jackson Hole and apron expansion at Wilmington.

San Antonio International Airport will receive the largest share at $40.9 million, while Abilene Regional Airport has been allocated $17.5 million. Jackson Hole Airport in Wyoming will get $16.6 million and Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina will receive $3 million. The funding is aimed at strengthening and modernising essential airport facilities, improving passenger amenities and supporting safe, efficient operations.

Duffy framed the grants as part of long overdue investment in airport infrastructure intended to make the travel experience more reliable and resilient. Airport Improvement Program grants can be used for runways, taxiways, signage, lighting, markings and other safety-related needs.
