Covenant unveils Anthem missile, targets 5,000 a year from Texas

Covenant has unveiled Anthem, a long-range, heavy-payload ground-launched cruise missile, and opened a 105,000-square-foot factory in Dallas to build it for U.S. demand. The defence startup expects serial production to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with output ultimately rising to about 5,000 missiles a year at full rate.

The new weapon is intended as a lower-cost alternative to legacy precision-strike systems and is pitched to the U.S. and allied buyers facing shortages of long-range munitions. Reuters reported that Anthem has flown more than 200 times in testing and carries a payload of more than 200 kg. Covenant has already booked roughly $150 million in orders.

The launch brings the previously low-profile company into direct competition with established defence groups, including RTX, in a segment dominated by large missile primes. Covenant’s production footprint now spans Texas, Germany and Israel, with the Dallas site positioned as the main U.S. manufacturing base.
