Cosmic Aerospace is developing Cosmic One, a four-seat all-electric aircraft designed around the FAA’s new MOSAIC framework, positioning the Colorado-based start-up to target light-sport and training markets with a clean-sheet design. The concept pairs a premium cabin with an embedded-wing layout, six integrated ducted fans, about 250 nautical miles of range, more than two hours’ endurance and a top speed of 250 knots.
The aircraft remains at preliminary design stage, but Cosmic Aerospace is aiming for it to become the first clean-sheet, four-seat electric aircraft certified under MOSAIC. The new rule modernises special airworthiness certification and broadens the light-sport category beyond the old two-seat limits, opening the door to heavier, faster aircraft for general aviation and flight training.
Co-founder and chief executive Christopher Chahine has framed the design around lower operating costs and fast charging, while the company also plans to apply the same core technology to larger regional aircraft later. For now, Cosmic One remains an early development target rather than a certification or delivery milestone.
