Cleaning company car collides with parked aircraft at Munich Airport

A cleaning company car collided with a parked passenger aircraft at Munich Airport early on 19 September, striking the engine before hitting an unoccupied passenger staircase. The aircraft was standing in a side area of the airport with no one on board, and flight operations were not affected. The driver was seriously injured and taken by rescue helicopter to hospital.

Police opened an accident analysis after initial indications suggested the driver may have been medically impaired before the crash. The incident took place around 03:00 local time, within the airport’s overnight window when no scheduled flights operate between midnight and 05:00. No other people were endangered at any point, and the aircraft remained on the ground after the collision.
