Boeing sees 737 MAX 10 certification very soon

Boeing expects FAA certification of the 737 MAX 10 very soon, with CEO Kelly Ortberg telling investors at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference that only three deliverables remain open and all flight testing is complete. The approval would clear the way for first deliveries of Boeing’s largest 737 MAX variant, a jet that accounts for about 30% of the company’s 737 backlog.

The programme has now moved from testing into documentation review, with the FAA still working through the remaining paperwork. European regulators also flew the aircraft last week and were reported to be positive about the jet’s status. Boeing finished certification flight testing in late July, leaving regulatory paperwork as the final hurdle before the amended type certificate can be issued.

The timing remains open, but Boeing is still targeting first MAX 10 deliveries in 2027 once certification is granted. More than 1,400 orders have been placed for the model, making its approval a key step for the company’s narrowbody production and airline fleet planning.
