Boeing delivers final O3b mPOWER satellites to SES

Boeing has delivered the final three O3b mPOWER satellites, F11, F12 and F13, to SES, completing the initial 13-satellite constellation for the operator’s medium Earth orbit broadband network. The spacecraft are due to launch from Florida’s Space Coast in September and are expected to enter service in mid-2027 after orbit-raising and commissioning.

The delivery closes Boeing’s first-phase production commitment for the programme and extends a long-running partnership between the two companies. The satellites will add capacity to SES’s MEO system, which is designed to provide high-throughput, low-latency connectivity for global customers.

Boeing’s O3b mPOWER spacecraft use the company’s software-defined 702X platform, which allows capacity to be directed more flexibly across the network. SES has positioned the constellation as part of a broader effort to expand uninterrupted broadband coverage and increase resilience across its commercial satellite services. The satellites have been handed over, but the operational impact will come only after launch, orbit raising and service entry.
