Beyond Aero and French airports plan liquid-hydrogen infrastructure for BYA-1 business jet

Beyond Aero is working with Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur and other French airport operators to prepare the infrastructure and refuelling approach needed for liquid-hydrogen business jet operations tied to its BYA-1 concept. The effort centres on how airports could handle liquid hydrogen on the ground, a key step before hydrogen-powered business aviation can move from design work to operations.

The project focuses on identifying the best approach for liquid-hydrogen refuelling stations at airports within the French network. That makes the ground segment part of the development process, rather than leaving it as a later operational issue, and places airport planning alongside aircraft development for the BYA-1 programme.

For business aviation, airport-side hydrogen handling remains one of the main practical barriers to entry. The work in France is aimed at narrowing that gap by assessing how refuelling infrastructure could be integrated into airport operations. The available report confirms preparation and planning, but not a flight date, launch date or full commercial rollout.
