BermudAir to become first Embraer E190F operator in the Americas

BermudAir will become the first airline in the Americas to operate Embraer’s E190F converted freighter, leasing one aircraft from Regional One as the type enters commercial service in North America and the Caribbean. The Bermuda-based carrier becomes only the second operator worldwide of the E-Freighter programme, with the aircraft set to extend its business beyond passenger flying into cargo operations across its existing network.

Embraer and Regional One unveiled the deal on Tuesday, saying the E190F will be used for express cargo, e-commerce and time-sensitive shipments between Bermuda, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada. BermudAir currently serves 10 destinations and operates two E175s and two E190s.

Regional One has placed five firm orders for the converted freighter, and two E190F aircraft are already in service elsewhere. The new operator gives Embraer’s E-Freighter programme its first presence in the Americas, following earlier commercial use in Europe.
