Allegiant orders six more Boeing 737 MAX jets for 2028 delivery

Allegiant Air has exercised options for six Boeing 737-8 aircraft under its 2021 purchase agreement with Boeing, with deliveries scheduled for 2028. The Las Vegas-based low-cost carrier now has 56 firm aircraft under the agreement, including 22 already delivered, and retains options for 74 more jets.

The six aircraft represent the first options exercised under the Boeing agreement and leave 34 firm aircraft to be delivered. Their combined Boeing list price exceeds $720 million, before discounts and price adjustments through delivery; Allegiant did not disclose the negotiated purchase price. Aviation consultancy IBA estimates their combined market value at approximately $351 million based on the planned delivery year.

The aircraft form part of Allegiant’s longer-term fleet renewal and capacity planning. The airline received its first Boeing 737-8-200 in September 2024, while deliveries from the original firm order were delayed and the schedule was amended in November 2024 to extend deliveries through the end of 2027. The 2028 deliveries coincide with Allegiant’s current expectation of obtaining a single operating certificate for its planned combination with Sun Country, although no direct link between the transaction and that timetable was disclosed. No new routes or immediate schedule changes were announced.
