Airbus workers marched through Madrid on Saturday against the pre-agreement reached with the company under the mediation of Spain’s Ministry of Industry. The protest, which ran from Plaza de Colón to the ministry, drew several thousand participants and kept pressure on the planemaker’s Spanish labour dispute as the deal moves towards ratification.
Minority unions CGT, UGT and ÚTIL backed the demonstration after rejecting the compromise supported by majority unions CCOO, ATP and SIPA. The pre-agreement covers wages, telework, working conditions, employment guarantees, workloads and industrial commitments at Airbus España, including a 7.95% wage recovery over four years and a 2,000-euro non-consolidable payment.
The internal vote on the text has not yet settled the dispute, and the proposal is due to go to a binding referendum among Airbus employees in Spain later this month. The conflict remains sensitive for production stability and future workload allocation, including concerns around Cádiz.
