Airbus nears narrowbody order from Egypt’s Air Cairo

Airbus is close to securing an order from Egypt’s Air Cairo for about 15 A320-family aircraft, with options for roughly 15 more jets, as the budget carrier looks to lock in delivery slots while expanding operations. The deal could be finalised as soon as this week, according to a Bloomberg report.

The prospective purchase would add to Airbus’s narrowbody backlog at a time when airlines continue to compete for production slots. Air Cairo, which operates as an Egyptian low-cost carrier, would deepen its reliance on the A320 family if the order proceeds, though the report did not identify the exact variant or any agreed pricing.

No formal announcement from either company has been made publicly, and the transaction remains described as nearing completion rather than signed. The reported order would also extend Airbus’s commercial momentum in the Middle East and North Africa, where narrowbody aircraft remain the backbone of fleet growth and replacement demand.
