Air Serbia retires third Airbus A319 as fleet renewal continues

Air Serbia has retired its third Airbus A319, with registration YU-APB leaving Belgrade for Teesside after its final commercial service on 8 September from Tivat to Belgrade. The 22-year-old aircraft joins YU-APK and YU-APD on the ground as the carrier continues reshaping its narrowbody fleet with larger A320s and additional Embraer E195s.

The withdrawal fits Air Serbia’s planned phase-out of the A319 over the next three to five years, part of a wider renewal programme that is gradually lifting seat capacity on short- and medium-haul routes. The airline has already taken in additional A320s this year, while also expanding its Embraer operation to support network growth and fleet flexibility.

YU-APB’s departure leaves Air Serbia with one fewer A319 in service as the carrier balances retirements with new arrivals. The aircraft was ferried to Teesside on 16 September, following a pattern seen with earlier withdrawn A319s that were also sent to the UK for further handling.
