Air Canada and United Airlines will expand their Canada-US networks for the summer 2027 timetable with new seasonal routes, additional capacity and enhanced connections through major hubs. Air Canada will launch services from Toronto to Louisville, Montréal to Indianapolis and Edmonton to Newark, while deploying larger Airbus aircraft on the Edmonton-San Francisco route. United will add services from Newark and Denver to Canadian destinations and increase capacity on selected routes.
Air Canada’s Toronto-L Louisville service will begin on 28 April 2027 and operate up to daily through 31 October. Montréal-Indianapolis will start on 1 June and run daily until 30 September, while Edmonton-Newark will operate four times weekly from 1 June through 17 October.
United will introduce seasonal Newark-St. John’s service and new routes from Denver to Ottawa and Québec City. It will also increase Washington Dulles-Québec City service and raise daily seat capacity on Denver-Winnipeg by 65 per cent. Air Canada will use the larger Airbus A220 on Edmonton-San Francisco to increase capacity.
The changes form part of the carriers’ Transborder Joint Business Agreement, which has operated since 2022 and supports more than 1,200 connecting itineraries. The airlines have agreed to renew and expand the arrangement, allowing broader coordination of schedules, fares, marketing, sales and revenue management, subject to regulatory approval.
Transport Canada opened a public-interest assessment of the proposed update. The partnership has produced 20 new Canada-US routes since 2022 and carried more than 4.3 million passengers jointly, according to the airlines.
