Aeroflot finalises order for 90 more Yakovlev MS-21 aircraft

Aeroflot has signed a contract for 90 additional Yakovlev MS-21 aircraft in a deal concluded at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, expanding its planned narrowbody fleet to 108 jets. Deliveries are scheduled from 2029 to 2032, with the package covering aircraft, flight simulators, pilot training and 22 years of after-sales maintenance.

The new agreement builds on an earlier order for 18 MS-21s, which are due in 2027 and 2028, and creates a long-term production pipeline for Russia’s civil aviation sector. The latest batch is set for staggered handovers of 14 aircraft in 2029, 18 in 2030, 24 in 2031 and 34 in 2032.

Representatives of Rostec, United Aircraft Corporation, Aviacapital-Service and United Engine Corporation attended the signing, alongside Russian officials including President Vladimir Putin, Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin. The contract was described as the largest in the history of Russian civil aviation.
