Adani Airport Holdings has raised about US$1 billion in primary equity from a consortium of global investors, including Temasek, BlackRock-managed funds, Alpha Wave Global and Premji Invest. The financing, structured in three tranches through July 2027, will support expansion and modernisation across the Indian airport operator’s portfolio, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport.
The deal values the business at about US$18 billion before the new money and is understood to be the company’s first major external equity round. Adani Airport Holdings plans to channel the capital into airport-city development and non-aeronautical businesses such as ground handling and passenger services, alongside core terminal and airside upgrades.
The group manages eight airports and handles more than 23% of India’s passenger traffic, with some estimates putting its share closer to a quarter of travellers and about one-third of air cargo volumes. The new funding is expected to support a first phase of roughly 22 million square feet of mixed-use airport-city development and lift network capacity to around 200 million passengers a year.
