easyJet will introduce onboard Wi-Fi for the first time through a partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network. Installation is planned to begin in the first half of 2027 and be completed by early 2028 across the airline’s Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo fleets. Passengers will be able to browse, stream content and play online games on personal devices, with connectivity planned from take-off to landing.
easyJet’s A319 aircraft are being phased out and are not included in the programme. The airline has not disclosed which routes or bases will receive the first equipped aircraft, nor whether access will be free or subject to a charge. Commercial terms for the agreement have also not been released.
The decision reverses easyJet’s earlier position on the economics of satellite connectivity. In January, chief executive Kenton Jarvis said a Starlink agreement did not yet make financial sense, although discussions with providers were continuing. The carrier now joins airlines including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and British Airways in adopting Starlink for passenger connectivity.
SpaceX president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell described the service as enabling passengers to work, stream content and stay in contact during flights. The rollout will apply to easyJet’s European short-haul Airbus operations, with installation scheduled progressively rather than completed across the fleet at launch.
