Azul orders new Embraer E2 simulator from FlightSafety

FlightSafety International will design and manufacture a Level-D full-flight simulator for Azul Brazilian Airlines’ Embraer E190-300, also known as the E190-E2. The simulator is scheduled for delivery in late 2027 and will be installed at Azul’s training centre in Campinas, São Paulo, expanding the airline’s capacity for pilot training and recurrent crew qualification.

The simulator will support continuing training as Azul expands and modernises its operations. Level-D is the highest civil qualification category for full-flight simulators, allowing crews to practise normal and abnormal procedures in a highly representative aircraft environment without using the aircraft for every training session.

FlightSafety’s designation refers specifically to the E190-E2, while Azul’s current E2 fleet comprises 50 E195-E2 aircraft. The two variants share the E2 flight deck and key systems, but the final qualification and configuration of the device were not disclosed. Secondary reporting has linked the simulator to FlightSafety’s VITAL 1150 visual system and MissionFit training platform, although those details were not included in the primary announcement.

The new device will complement Azul’s existing training infrastructure in Campinas. The agreement does not disclose its value, the precise installation schedule or the date of regulatory qualification.
