AEGEAN appoints Michalis Kouveliotis CEO in planned leadership succession

AEGEAN has appointed Michalis Kouveliotis as chief executive officer with immediate effect, succeeding Dimitris Gerogiannis after approximately 20 years in the role. The Greece-based airline’s leadership change forms part of a planned transition to a new generation of management, while preserving Gerogiannis’s involvement in key operational areas during the handover.

Kouveliotis previously served as AEGEAN’s chief financial officer, including during the period before the company’s listing on the Athens Stock Exchange. He became deputy CEO at the beginning of 2025, coordinating the airline’s other divisions and helping prepare the succession.

Gerogiannis, who joined AEGEAN in 1999 as one of its founding executives, will remain as a management adviser. His responsibilities will include oversight of the airline group’s Technical Base and Training Centre, as well as its new development direction. He will therefore continue to support the business after relinquishing the top executive position.

AEGEAN also appointed Semiramis Paliou, chief executive of Diana Shipping, as an independent non-executive director. She replaces Konstantinos Kalamatas, who resigned from the board. Paliou’s appointment was made for the remainder of the current board’s term and will be submitted to the next general meeting of shareholders.
