Airbus has reopened a vote among its Spanish workforce on a labour pre-agreement after the National Court lifted a precautionary suspension that had blocked the referendum. About 14,000 employees across Getafe, Seville, Cádiz, Albacete and Illescas are due to vote on 30 September and 1 October on a proposal aimed at ending the dispute and strike.
The package, brokered with the help of Spain’s industry ministry, includes reported improvements on pay recovery and social conditions such as telework, holidays, dining and transport. Unions CCOO, SIPA and ATP back the text, while CGT challenged the ballot in court. The vote will determine whether Airbus Spain can close a conflict that has already disrupted its industrial relations and production network.
The referendum follows an earlier suspension sought by CGT and comes after the court rejected precautionary measures against the consultation. If approved, the agreement would settle a long-running dispute over working conditions at Airbus’s Spanish sites and put an end to the strike action that accompanied the talks.
