GMF AeroAsia and FTAI Aviation have expanded their strategic collaboration to widen engine and auxiliary power unit maintenance capacity across Asia-Pacific, with guaranteed capacity for FTAI over the next five years. The agreement, formalised at MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 in Singapore, initially covers CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines and GTCP131-9 series APUs.
The partnership builds on an existing arrangement under which GMF already maintains FTAI engines and is designed to extend progressively into deeper module and piece-part work. The companies also see scope to add next-generation engines, including the CFM LEAP family. The move is aimed at giving FTAI and its airline customers more dedicated shop capacity closer to the region, while improving turnaround times and access to materials and spare parts.
GMF is responding to rising demand from FTAI, its customers and the wider Asia-Pacific market, where maintenance slots remain tight. The collaboration also supports GMF’s push to strengthen its regional market position and broaden its engine and APU maintenance capabilities, while giving FTAI a larger operational footprint in a key growth market.
