EFW and Dresden Airport plan ahead for growth

Elbe Flugzeugwerke and Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG are coordinating future infrastructure needs at Dresden Airport to support EFW’s long-term growth, with particular attention on aircraft parking and apron capacity. The planning focuses on wide-body operations linked to Airbus A380 and A330 work, while preserving Dresden’s role as an aviation hub.

The two companies are aligning their assessments early so that EFW’s requirements are considered before any airport infrastructure changes are finalised. That approach is intended to give the aircraft maintenance and conversion specialist more room for expansion as its operations develop at the Saxony airport.

The discussions also cover closer cooperation in military aviation. No timetable, investment figure or final build-out decision has been disclosed, but the coordination is meant to protect future capacity at the site rather than wait for expansion pressures to become acute.
