Iberia has begun the countdown to its 100th anniversary with a centenary programme for 2027 that includes a major institutional event at La Muñoza in June, commemorative aircraft liveries and activities in Spain and Latin America. At the same time, the carrier is keeping its Plan de Vuelo 2030 unchanged at €6 billion, despite higher fuel costs, as it expands its long-haul fleet and prepares for further growth at Madrid-Barajas.
The centenary calendar will combine institutional, cultural and commercial events, alongside customer-experience initiatives tied to the airline’s history and future plans. Leadership presented the programme in Madrid, with president Marco Sansavini and strategy chief Diego Fernández outlining the line-up and the strategic priorities behind it. Latin America features prominently, with events planned in several cities across the region.
Iberia is linking the anniversary to fleet expansion and network growth. Its long-haul fleet has increased from 43 aircraft at the start of 2025 to 51, with a target of around 70 by 2030. The investment is designed to support profitable, sustainable growth and strengthen Madrid-Barajas as one of Europe’s main hubs.
