Kazakhstan and Switzerland have created the legal basis for direct flights after aviation authorities met in Astana and agreed new operating terms for passenger and cargo services. The deal allows designated airlines to run up to 28 passenger flights a week, while cargo operations face no frequency or capacity limits.
The two sides also initialled a draft air services agreement that is meant to update the bilateral framework for future air links. Switzerland is considering regular direct flights to Kazakhstan, although no route, airline, airport pair or launch date has been disclosed. The arrangement is expected to support tourism, trade, business travel and freight connectivity between the two countries.
