American Airlines brought its Airbus A321XLR to Cranky Dorkfest 2026 at Los Angeles International Airport, giving attendees the chance to walk through the aircraft during the enthusiast gathering. The airline also positioned an AirCal heritage aircraft at the event, which drew aviation fans and industry visitors to the ramp area near the Flight Path Museum.
Cranky Dorkfest has become a regular fixture on the LAX aviation calendar, combining aircraft viewing, ramp access and airline participation with the main public gathering held near the airport. This year’s programme expanded the static display to five aircraft, with American among the most prominent participants.
The A321XLR remains a closely watched aircraft for the carrier because of its role in American’s long-range narrowbody strategy. Its appearance at LAX offered a rare close-up look at the type in a public setting, while the AirCal-branded jet added a heritage element to the display alongside aircraft from Delta, Southwest and United.
