Turkish Airlines finalises order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets

Turkish Airlines has finalised an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, including 100 firm 737-8s and options for 50 more, in a deal disclosed on Wednesday. The agreement also gives the carrier substitution rights for the larger 737-10, providing flexibility in its narrowbody fleet planning as it continues a long-term expansion programme.

The order resolves a delayed aircraft commitment that had been held up for months by negotiations over engine maintenance terms with CFM International. Delivery is expected between 2033 and 2037, underlining that the purchase is aimed at long-term renewal and growth rather than near-term capacity additions.

The MAX order forms part of Turkish Airlines’ broader fleet strategy and follows earlier Boeing widebody commitments. It is also a meaningful addition to Boeing’s 737 MAX backlog, while financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the public filing.
