RAF Hawk T2 crashes near RAF Valley, both pilots eject

A Royal Air Force Hawk T2 advanced jet trainer crashed near RAF Valley in Anglesey, north Wales, shortly after take-off on Wednesday. Both pilots ejected and suffered minor injuries, while emergency services responded to the Pencarnisiog area near the base. The RAF confirmed an incident involving an RAF T2 Hawk from RAF Valley and has launched an investigation.

Witnesses reported flames or apparent trouble immediately after departure, followed by the crew ejecting before the aircraft came down in flames. North Wales Police said there were no reports of wider damage or injuries, and fire crews later brought the blaze under control. Police, fire, ambulance and an air ambulance attended the scene, and the public was asked to avoid the area while operations continued.

The Hawk T2 is used in the RAF’s fast-jet training programme and operates from RAF Valley, a key training base for military pilots. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed, and no technical details were released pending the investigation.
