Mahan Air, Iran Air and Qeshm Air halt Georgia flights

Iranian carriers including Mahan Air, Iran Air and Qeshm Air have stopped flights to Georgia after Tbilisi moved to enforce sanctions affecting Iranian aviation. Their last scheduled services operated on 20 September, with the restrictions taking effect on 21 September and covering direct passenger links to Tbilisi and Batumi.

The suspension removes one of the few remaining non-stop air connections between Iran and Georgia, a market that had supported short-haul and leisure travel. Broader coverage also linked the move to Georgia’s intention to align with US sanctions on Iranian airlines, which had already begun to affect operations across the region. Iranian carriers continued flying for several days after the sanctions announcements before the cutoff date, but the latest services to Georgia have now ended.
